Are you ready for summer? If yes, then great! If not.. then we has some tricks up our sleeve(less) shirt that will get you in that summer state of mind. Because, lets face it.. as the heat goes up, so does the anxiety of bikinis, bare arms, "and what-the-hell-am-i-gonna-wear to that bar-b-que"?

~ 'Hip' Hip Cover-Ups - If you're not in a bikini mood.. flatter your curves and be the epitome of style with a snug, short sarong. You'll be amazed at what it can do for your body!

~ Tunics & Maxi Dresses - If you're more confident in your legs than your arms, invest in a great tunic! You can wear it over a swimsuit, with shorts, or over white jeans! Maxi dresses have the same effect ~ they are a great summer staple because you can dress them up or down.

~ *Learn To Layer - Get a great, structured stretch cami to go under your tanks or thin shirts! This is our favorite summer tip! It will smooth you out and give you a great shape under those flowy summer outfits.

~ Know Your Silhouette - Don't wait until you get to your 'goal' size to go shopping.. Dress your curves and wear your clothes with confidence! Love your legs? Show them off with any of these seasons great mini-skirts! Then pair it with a flowy shirt for an effortless casual look for either day or night.

~ Accessorize your Favorite Basics - We've said it before, and we'll say it again. Bored with your black bikini but feel skinny in it?? Add a raffia fedora or chunky bangles to spice it up! Also, its always a good idea to invest in a great pair of sunglasses.

~ Just Glow With The Flow! - Let's face it, the first thing people will notice about you is your skin and your hair.. So take care of it and invest in quality pjavascript:void(0)roducts that work for you! When you feel your best, everyone will take notice. ;)

Top 10 Spring Trends!

Spring is just around the corner and I am so excited for what is happening in fashion! The classics are back.. but with a twist! Think vintage and feminine looks accessorized with bold and chunky metal jewelry. Here are your Top Ten spring looks for 2010..

1) FEMME FLORALS ~ Think vintage, feminine floral prints! In either bright or earth tones, you'll be seeing this trend mostly in short, flowy dresses. Paired with a strappy brown sandal you'll stop traffic for this sweet and casual day look.

2) NEW 'NUDES' ~ Nude, gray, & dusty pink are the definite colors this spring!! Check out this bag by Big Buddha (Pictured Right ~ Coming Soon to Violet Avenue)

3) BOLD & CHUNKY VINTAGE ~ Mix and match the bangles in your jewelry box for a bold, fun and fashion forward look! Layered bracelets and vintage locket necklaces are the absolute 'MUST HAVE' for both 'day' and 'night' looks this season!

4) MOTORCYCLE CHIC ~ Leather jackets, leggings, and zippers will be a staple both this season and into next winter! You will be seeing zippers on handbags, jewlery, and items like this headband (Pictured Left.. Coming Soon to Violet Avenue).

5) 'BOYFRIEND' LOOK ~ Shirts, jeans & hats!! Raid your boyfriends closet for oversized oxfords, plaid shirts, baggy jeans, and even fedora-style summer hats!

6)TOTALLY TRIBAL ~ Geometric Prints, feathers, and bold bead patterns make up this trendy look! You'll be seeing both earthy browns as well as primary brights that will be sure to spice up any simple summery dress.

7) NAUTICAL ~ STRIPES, STRIPES, STRIPES! Think Striped tees, handbags, and rope details (like this bag, pictured right, coming soon to Violet Avenue!)

8) EIGHTIES (IN A GOOD WAY..) Color-blocking is done this season with a fresh new twist of earthy colors and luxe fabrics. Look for color blocked dresses and structured shoulders this seasons and help re-invent the trend!

9) LOVELY IN LACE ~ Lace tanks and sheer overlays are a definite way to make a sexy and sophisticated statement! Look for these delicate frills in the nude, gray and pink tones that have taken over this season!

10) SAFARI ~ And no, I'm not talking zebra print.. This look is a classic and should be a staple in your wardrobe regardless of the trend! Think military style structured tops with double front pockets and rolled sleeve with button detail. This season, go for the long (almost dress length) for a great, casual day look over skinny jeans or leggings!

Haute Hibernation

Feeling the frump of post-holiday? I feel it, just like I do every year, even though the day before Thanksgiving I always give myself the annual pre-holiday pep talk. 'This year is going to be different, I'm feeling good. I'm feeling motivated. If I can just make it through New Years..' Not shocked that it didnt work. Rum cider & snickerdoodles are just too much for any girl. And I am feeling it. Especially in the 'back-of the-arm', 'back-of-the-thigh' regions...but that's neither here nor there.

So yet again I find myself post-holiday. My jeans are 5 pounds tighter and I am beginning to think my leggings look like stuffed sausages. It's too cold for skirts, too cold for anything but layers and scarves and Uggs over jeans. I know every girl reaches this point. Every winter. And it's awful.

Okay, so maybe the pre-holiday Pep talk didnt get us very far. But with spring around the corner I think you can muster up enough motivation to feel great about yourself and your wardrobe. I sometimes use these tips and am passing them on to you so that your sad winter wardrobe will feel new again! And hopefully you will feel a burst of new energy that you obviously havent found in the back of your fridge. Or at the bottom of your egg nog martini.

1) THINK SUMMER! Layer your favorite summer tank with a cardigan and bright scarf. (It's okay to mix prints as long as one is subtle and they share the same color family!)

2) ACCESSORIES! Okay, this is not (only) a plug. Wear your favorite black top with a great pair of layered necklaces or cocktail ring. You will be amazed at how much this can drastically change an outfit! Come by with your favorite top and Violet Avenue guarantees to make two fab NEW outfits from it for under $75. Guaranteed. ;)

3) WEAR HEELS! Ice, Shmice. It's worth it to feel great in a pair of jeans again.

4) GET CREATIVE! Dig through your boyfriend's closet for a great oxford that you could pair with your leggings and boots for a cute and casual day look. It'll hide your post-holiday frump and make you feel cute just because it's his! Make it look like you didnt just roll out of bed by pairing it with layered bracelets and a scarf in your hair.

5) TREAT YOURSELF! Sometimes just new make-up or bubble bath can get the ball rolling. It will freshen you up and make you excited for more style changes! (We have Bella Il Fiore Eye Shadow Palettes for just $18.. just sayin')

Changing your attitude and your wardrobe doesn't have to be a drag, and it certainly doesnt have to be expensive. I love fashion and I love the feeling of feeling great in a new outfit or changing up my look, and that's why I started Violet Avenue. Fashion should be fun and keep you light on your feet, even if the post-holiday scale disagrees! Much love this winter!
